This place is fantastic! With a Rueben being my favorite sandwich, I am always very skeptical when I hear "we have the best Rueben"... however, theirs was terrific. They do their own horseradish sauce and make their corned beef. The bartender is extremely friendly and knows his business. On my 2nd visit I just had soup...Very tasty. They seem to hire cute omen so that's a plus... no TV's so do not go if you're trying to catch a game... I would say this is not only a must stop of Two Rivers but of all of Wisconsin.

If my rating was based on the food alone I would've given it four stars. As the names states this is a pub and deli. They mainly serve soups (very good) and sandwiches. A couple of days they have home smoked ribs and prime rib. The ribs were very good. They have some great imports on tap and the wine was reasonably priced. Service was VERY casual and the homemade hot fudge tasted like warmed up Herseys syrup, only runnier. They also forgot the almonds on the sundae.

When visiting Chicago recently, we decided to head south to visit with of my friends who had recently moved back to the Two Rivers area to be closer to their aging families. They took us for dinner at Kurtz's Pub and Deli and I must say, the food was really good! I did not have high expectations when they said pub but was pleasantly surprised once the food arrived. The service was prompt, efficient and very attentive - I never had to ask for more water. Next time you are near Twin Rivers, give them a try!

Best Moscow mules hands down. You can order a yard of beer. All around nice place. Their kitchen station is laughable but they are still able to serve high quality food. Definitely recommended.

Five of us went there for lunch, after reading the reviews. This was our 1st time here. We all had sandwiches with potato salad, bread bowl soup, and some 1/2 yards of beer. We all thought our food was very good. Drinking a beer from a 1/2 yard of glass was fun and the Munich German beer was very good. They also have a yard glass, but I think you would have to stand up to drink from it. We will all return again.

Kurtz's is an excellent choice for those looking for a German atmosphere with a menu that provides something for everyone. A great choice for anyone driving through the Two Rivers area!

I don't get the love for this place. It's just a dive bar with unappealing sandwiches on the menu. The food isn't any good.

A true, Wisconsin, neighborhood "Deutches Eck" By all means stop if you are driving through town. I had the "Kurtz Burger," a tasty sliced beef sandwich, and my wife had the Turkey LT. Both were quite good. The beer was an excellent Krombacher, both sweet and bitter. The service prompt and friendly. Keep in mind that this is a neighborhood place run by "salt of the earth" small town folks. Please don't think this is Chicago or even Milwaukee. Spend some time at the bar, soak up the atmosphere and meet some good people. Enjoy the food, enjoy yourself. Critics go home.

I ate here last week as I was leaving town from visiting a few days. Had to sit at the bar to eat since I didn't have reservations and was alone. I had a reuben which was quite tasty and the bartender couldn't have been nicer. It's not fancy but it sure has a good business going - the place was busy, busy, busy the day I was there.

My husband was in town for work for several weeks and I was up to visit for a weekend and he insisted on taking me to one of his regular places. Kurtz's is nothing fancy, but has been around since 1904 so I can appreciate the history and ambiance. We stopped in for dinner on a Thursday night and were greeted and seated immediately. My husband ordered a beer and I went for my usual Chardonney. We ordered a soft pretzel with cheddar cheese and mustard for an appetizer. The pretzel was done perfectly and if I ordered I again, I would go without the cheese (and I love cheese) and stick with just the mustard. I'm a sucker for a good reuben so I couldn't resist ordering one here. It was a little different than the standard reuben, but very good. The corned beef was sliced very thin and was super lean. They were a little skimpy with the kraut. The sandwich included their horseradish sauce, which was really just mayo and horseradish (not a mayo fan!). The rye bread was great and the sandwich was just toasted rather than slathered in butter and grilled, which I really appreciated. Sandwiches come with a side and I ordered the cole slaw, but they accidentally served with potato salad. The potato salad was great and our server was very apologetic and offered to bring out a side of cole slaw as well, but I declined. She also brought us a side of the chips to try since we originally couldn't decide what sides to order. The chips were kettle style and served with a side of the horseradish mayo. My husband ordered the roll braten which was very lean, thin sliced pork tenderloin served on a nice toasty baguette, which he loved. He also ordered the potato salad as his side and said it was some of the best he has had. This place is old school, no frills, with friendly, helpful servers (who have probably been working here for years). Everything was very reasonably priced and we would definitely go back again.

Sign says Established 1904, but no connection to the past here. If you like processed meats you've come to the right place. Menu says "oven roasted turkey breast" and waitress said as much. What came was no better than you can get from O. Mayer. Same for the corned beef. Soups taste like they are fresh...from a can. Unfortunately wait staff in these parts don't know the difference between processed and fresh meat as this is a common occurrence.

Have always driven by Kurtz's, have always heard people raving about Kurtz's, have always wanted to try Kurtz's. Today was the day! It was a cool rainy late summer day, and a nice hot sandwich in a local restaurant was what we were looking for. Having never been here before, was not sure if we were to seat ourself or wait to be seated? So we asked the first person that looked like they worked there, and we sat at a nice cozy table for two in the bar area. The lighting was dim, so we were not sure how fancy of a place this was. The waitress flew by about 4 times saying she will be right with us each time, which was fine, we were still perusing the menu. We both ordered the house mango iced tea, (cold rainy day, right? But it sounded wonderful!). It was OK, but if I wanted bland unsweetened flavorless iced-tea, I could have got the regular iced tea for $1.50 less. I ordered The Reuben! ($7.99). Now when a menu has a capital T in The Reuben sandwich on a menu, you know you are in for a treat. My wife ordered the Monterey Chicken sandwich. After placing our order we learned some history about a yard of beer and a half yard of beer. The restaurant has beautiful woodwork, it was very clean. Many people working there all seemed to be happy and upbeat, overall, a great little restaurant! The food came out quickly, so the wife's chicken was obviously pre-cooked, but she stated it was very tasty, but nothing to rave about, but nothing negative about it either. My "The Reuben" sandwich was a very nice, full of corned beef? sandwich. The bread (not marble rye) was fresh and light, I am not sure where the sauerkraut was, or the Thousand Island dressing, but I know what I ordered, and the processed? corned beef was warm and flavorful, so it all had to be in there. I was taking the last sip of my flavorless Kurtz's Mango Iced Tea, and the waitress almost ran away with my pickle that was remaining on my plate. Once I bit into that pickle, it was in fact the highlight of the plate and I was glad to have been give it back to eat. My wife was just about to start on the 2nd half of her sandwich when she was asked if she wanted a to go box?...... .........huh? We have now been in this place a total maybe 15 minutes. There is a nice number of customers, but there are plenty of seats still available, and no one was waiting for an open seat, it was just really odd. We felt like we were being rushed. Maybe our waitress had somewhere else to be? It was all very strange and my wife noticed it as well. After my wife finished the other half of her sandwich (and her pickle) without further interruption, the waitress returned with not only a comment if I still wanted my parsley sprig, but with the check already!?! I guess we will not be getting.... A. A refill on our very bland $2.50 Kurtz's Mango Iced Tea B. The option to order that wonderful sounding cheesecake on the dessert menu. So we payed the bill, left 15%+ gratuity, and scurried out, because we the customer, were not that waitresses priority of the day. Half the staff gave us a hearty "thanks for coming" on our way out. The food was average +, the place was clean and comfortable, everyone was very nice and friendly, but I have spent more time in fast food restaurants. This was just our experience, we have now been there once, there are way too many restaurants to try than to see if this was the exception and not the rule...... .......but I am still wondering what that cheesecake would have tasted like. After our sandwiches, I am sure we are better off not knowing.

While loosely planning our drive to Door County (from Milwaukee) a few weeks back, we decided to stop about halfway, which would be the Two Rivers / Manitowoc area. Since Kurtz's Pub had a 5-star rating and I'm into Yelp, how could we not turn up to this place? First impression is that it's definitely an old place and you can tell many have passed through it over the years. As I perused the menu, I came to the realization that they must not have a full kitchen (I'm still puzzled by this and not sure)... seems most of the sandwiches are either cold cuts or warmed up cold cuts. Not a problem, they have a stovetop / griddle area for this. But this does severely limit the menu options. Our food was good, but not great. The service was just ok (actually slow and it wasn't that busy). Overall, I really don't see what is so special about this place? Maybe for that part of the world it is head & shoulders better than the alternatives or something? I guess if I had a craving for authentic German beers it would be the destination of choice. Bottom line is I felt like it was a "destination" of sorts (see Youtube) and I walked away less than enthusiastic about ever returning. Although their horsey sauce was pretty damn good!

Staying near Mishicot for a wedding and we were looking for a place for two families with kids to eat. Hit a couple of places and they weren't too inviting. Kurtz's was just right. The food was great. Sandwich meat was thin sliced, well-seasoned and tender. For kids who like monkeys, the plastic figures on the kiddy cocktails were great. The youngest says the chicken patty on his sandwich was a bit small but the croissant was awesome. Good sandwich. Service was okay but no free refills is a negative for ;families with kids. Capital Amber is A plus, Would definitely stop here again so it is worth your tine.
